Former Silver Ferns captain Casey Kopua could be set for a shock return to the Silver Ferns should Noeline Taurua fill the vacant coaching role.
The 33-year-old will make herself available for national selection after a three-year hiatus, but only if her long-time mentor secures the national job, Stuff is reporting.
Newshub understands that Noeline Taurua has been approached by Netball NZ and is keen to take the role if she is released from the Sunshine Coast Lightning.
Taurua is contracted to the Australian league club until 2019.
Kopua didn't respond to calls or messages about the rumours, Stuff reports.
A Netball NZ spokesperson told Stuff it is not the national body's place to speak on behalf of the former captain.
