Former NZ Warriors prop Jacob Lillyman will hang up his boots as a Newcastle Knight at the end of the NRL season.

The 34-year-old has played 265 NRL games for the North Queensland Cowboys, Warriors and Knights, and 14 State of Origin matches for Queensland.

After playing 62 games for North Queensland, Lillyman joined the Warriors in 2009 on a two-year contract. Two-years turned into nine, with the Queensland native making 188 appearances for the Auckland club, scoring six tries.

Lillyman departed Mt Smart Stadium after the 2017 season, signing a one-year deal with Newcastle.

The long-serving front rower announced his retirement on Tuesday, calling time on a 15-year career.

"The mind and body reach a point where going another year isn't an option, and it's been a bit of a battle this year," Lillyman said.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to play for this great club, but at the end of the year, I'm riding off into the sunset."

Lillyman made his NRL debut for the Cowboys at the age of 19 against the Knights, where he will now wrap up his career.

"I've had an incredible career," he said. I have no regrets."
