The NRL's expected to reveal plans for an NZ Māori team to play an Australian Indigenous side at the start of the 2019 season, as a part of a revamped All-Star weekend.
The New Zealand Māori team will replace the World All-Stars side, with a two-week voting window open to fans in January to pick their favourite players, according to NRL.com.
The pre-game Māori haka and indigenous war cry are expected to be a feature of the event.
It'll be part of a men's and women's doubleheader weekend, which will be played in Melbourne.
It will be the first time the All-Stars game will be played in Melbourne - it has previously been hosted in Brisbane, Newcastle and the Gold Coast.
Issac Luke, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, James Tamou and Jordan Rapana are among those eligible for the New Zealand Māori squad.
