All Blacks midfielder Sonny Bill Williams is predicting a much-anticipated boxing bout with Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen will happen, but he needs to be patient.

Williams will step into the ring for the first time in three years on December 1 in Sydney against a yet-to-be-announced opponent.

Gallen, who has a 7-0 record in his boxing career, has gone public numerous times that he wants to fight the dual code international in the ring, claiming the All Blacks star is dodging him.

Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, Williams said Gallen needs to be patient.

"Tell my good friend Paul, he can just relax and we will get there eventually," Williams said.

"He keeps calling me out by attacking me and questioning my manhood. That kind of talk, I'm past that stage in my life.

"I've been involved in sports for long enough to understand that the bravado, the macho talk is just rubbish. That's just water off a duck's back to me, so to speak. That's what I'd say about that situation, brother."

The fight is being dubbed the 'Banger under the Hanger' and is raising funds for the Exodus Foundation in Australia, and the Auckland City Mission.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Gallen is set to fight former NRL bad-boy John Hopoate in an NRL fight night card on November 10 in Sydney.
