Rugby has seen its fair share of lopsided scorelines, but there may have been a new standard set in a South African U-21 representative match on Saturday morning (NZ time).
Western Province put their Eastern Province counterparts to the sword, running in a total of 27 tries to post a mind-blowing 173-0 win in Port Elizabeth.
The rate of scoring equates to a try approximately every three minutes. Of those 27 tries, 19 were converted.
The majority of the points came in the opening half, with Western Province taking an 85-0 lead into the interval.
Two of their players - wing Tumi Mogoje and number eight Muller Uys - registered five tries apiece.
It was salt in the wounds for the Eastern Province side, who entered the fixture riding a four-game losing streak.
They’ve now conceded a total of 610 points through their five games so far this season, with just 27 of their own.
