Serena Williams has advanced to the semi-finals of the US Open, with a straight-sets win over Karolina Pliskova.
Williams overcame a sluggish start, fighting back from 2-4 down in the first set to ultimately ease to a 6-4 6-3 win.
It's the ninth consecutive time the American has reached the final four of her home tournament.
The 36-year-old is chasing her first Grand Slam title since giving birth to daughter Olympia last September.
If she wins, it would be her 24th major title - equalling Australian Margaret Court's all-time record.
"The crowd was really rooting for me and I felt so bad, because everyone out here was cheering and I wasn't winning, so I thought I had to try harder," said Williams.
Williams will face Latvian Anastasija Sevastova on Friday for a chance for a spot in Monday's final (NZ time).
