The Auckland Tuatara have added fresh Major League Baseball talent to their growing roster with the acquisition of Colorado Rockies prospect Taylor Snyder.
The 24-year-old was drafted by the Rockies in 2016 and he comes with strong predigree with his father Cory a former MLB player.
Snyder spent 2018 playing single A ball with the Asheville Tourists, hitting .264 with eight home runs.
The infielder can't wait to get to Auckland.
"I am really looking forward to it," he said.
"I don't know a whole ton about it. I have a teammate at the Rockies who plays with Canberra – he's a catcher Robbie Perkins - and I have talked to him a lot about it and got to know the league a little bit from him.
"It sounds like the fan base and everything that goes on there is a blast."
The Colorado State product is viewed as a very talented player with a real shot at playing in the majors in the future and emulating what his father did across nine seasons with the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, San Francisco Giants, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
"I was kinda born into it," the younger Snyder said.
"I pretty much had a glove put on my hand right from birth. I was fortunate to be around it when I was really young and he was finishing up his career – I got to hang around at spring training and what not.
"It is something that has run in the family - my older brother played in college.
"It has been a dream of mine to play in the big leagues like Pops."
