All Blacks lock Brodie Retallick has beaten out teammate Beauden Barrett to win International Rugby Players Try of the Year award in Monaco.
Retallick's try came against the Wallabies in the opening Bledisloe Cup test in Sydney.
The try started and finished with the All Blacks second-row.
Retallick won a turnover inside New Zealand's half and offloaded the ball to Damian McKenzie to launch the counter-attack.
Beauden Barrett and Ben Smith helped take play into the Australian half before the All Blacks recycled and swung the ball from right to left, the fly-half finding Retallick who sold Bernard Foley with an outrageous dummy and ran in from nearly 30 metres.
Ironically, Barrett was the one who accepted the award as Retallick is en-route back to New Zealand after the All Blacks' northern tour.
"It shows the skill level of the forwards these days," Barrett said when accepting the award. "He's a top player. He'll probably throw it [award] in the garage among his cars, he's not one to brag."
Ireland number eight CJ Stander and Scotland's New Zealand born winger Sean Maitland were also nominated for their tries against France and England respectively.
The award was selected by a panel of former players including New Zealand's Melodie Robinson, Ireland's Ronan O'Gara, Italy's Marco Bortolami and Wales' Shane Williams.
