Kiwi golfer Danny Lee has finished second on the PGA Tour's Mayakoba Classic in Mexico, one shot behind American winner Matt Kuchar on Monday (NZ time).
The 28-year-old started the day tied for third, five shots behind Kuchar, but his impressive round of six-under par 65 round set up a frantic finish at the at the El Camaleon Golf Club.
Kuchar was cruising to victory, when back-to-back bogeys on the 14th and 15th holes gave Lee a chance to climb to the top at 22-under over the final two holes.
Lee had long birdie putts on the 17th and 18th, but both went wide of the hole and he had to settle for pars, as Kutcher held his nerve to secure his first win in four years.
Lee's final round included seven birdies - four on the front nine - and a bogey on the 15th.
The Kiwi's second-place finfish sees him leap to 10th on the FedEx Cup ladder - his second top-10 finish of the year.
He will also climb from 133rd in the world rankings to 89th, all-but securing his tour card for next season, just seven events into the current season.
