James Graham will captain England in Monday's (NZ time) second test against the Kiwis at Anfield in Liverpool.
Graham takes over from Sean O'Loughlin who's been ruled out with a long-standing calf injury he aggravated in the early stages of the 18-16 first test win over the Kiwis in Hull.
O'Loughlin's place in the 19-man squad is taken by Adam Milner, who made his debut in the defeat of France last month.
It is the only chance change to Wayne Bennett's side that was named for the first test.
It will be a special moment for Graham, leading his country in his hometown of Liverpool. Bennett said naming Graham as captain was an easy decision, with vice-captain Sam Burgess also out with injury.
"With Sam not here, James was a pretty straightforward choice," Bennett said
"There's not many more passionate Englishmen. Lockers has been one of the top-line players in your country so he's a loss, but we've got to manage without him and we will.
"He'll be touch-and-go for the series. It's not a serious one, but the calf injuries hang around with you at this stage of your career and your life. We lost him in the final last year in Australia and we did okay enough there."
Graham is England's most-capped player and will increase his record number of appearances to 43.
If England win the second test, they will retain the Baskerville Shield.
The full England 19-man squad is: John Bateman, George Burgess, Tom Burgess, Daryl Clark, Jake Connor, Oliver Gildart, James Graham (c), Chris Hill, Josh Hodgson, Jonny Lomax, Tommy Makinson, Jermaine McGillvary, Richie Myler, Adam Milner, Mark Percival, Luke Thompson, Sam Tomkins, Elliott Whitehead, George Williams.
