But none of that compared to fearing for his life as a passenger inside the cockpit of Red Bull race plane.
The All Black star has just inked a three-year deal as an ambassador for the daredevil sport brand and was 'treated' to an experience he would surely never forget at the company's Austrian headquarters.
Barrett rode shotgun tens of thousands of feet in the air, as a Red Bull stunt pilot showed him a few manoeuvres, much to the horror of the two-time World Rugby Player of the Year.
Hilariously, the pilot asked Barrett a few poignant questions that he - understandably - struggled to answer, given the circumstances.
