All Black captain Kieran Read and his teammate Ryan Crotty are on their way to Japan post-Rugby World Cup according to French publication RugbyRama.
The report suggests Read will link up with Toyota Verblitz while Crotty will play for Kubota Spears in the Japan Top League.
With the Rugby World Cup being hosted in Japan this year, the Top League will run two modified seasons in 2020, essentially offering a double payday to players.
The double-season leaves the potential for players to earn twice what can be made in Europe in the same 12 month period.
Crotty has reportedly been deep into negotiations with French club Racing while Northampton coach Chris Boyd has publicly stated his interest in pursuing the Crusaders midfielder.
But it now appears he will choose Japan over Europe.
Read has also attracted interest from Racing but RugbyRama reports he is keen to play under former Springboks coach Jake White at Toyota.
