Sevens: Black Ferns Sevens end day one unbeaten in Sydney

The Black Ferns Sevens side have gone through pool play unbeaten at the Sydney leg of the World Sevens Series.

In game one, the Black Ferns ran over Papua New Guinea 38-5.

Sarah Hirini got the Kiwis off to a good start, scoring the match's first try, Tyla Nathan-Wong, Niall Williams, Gayle Broughton, Shakira Baker and Ruby Tui all scored as the Ferns outscored Papua New Guinea six tries to one.

It was just as easy for the ladies in black in their second game, beating France 31-7.

Michaela Blyde ran in two tries in the win and Stacey Waaka got her first try of the weekend.

Williams got the Kiwis of to the perfect start in their final pool game against England, scoring in the opening minutes.

Gayle Broughton scored a second for the Ferns with a fantastic dummy to split the English defence.

Alena Saili scored on the full time hooter to mark a comfortable 29-0 win to remain unbeaten in pool A..

New Zealand will play Canada in the quarter-final at 2:50pm NZT on Saturday.
