New Zealand has lost its bid to host the 2023 Netball World Cup, which has instead been awarded to Cape Town, South Africa.
The decision marks the first time the world netball championships will be staged in Africa.
"We're very disappointed we were not awarded the hosting rights for what is the pinnacle event within the world netball calendar," says Netball NZ chair Allison Ferguson.

"This would have been a fitting way to celebrate 100 years of netball in New Zealand.
"I know we would have done a superb job and we certainly had the support of our netball community, Government and venues, to have made this an outstanding Netball World Cup event."
The Silver Ferns have won or shared the world netball title four times, most recently in 2003, and New Zealand last hosted the event in Auckland 2007.
