Super Rugby 2019: Crusaders rest Richie Mo'unga, Scott Barrett against Waratahs

One-test All Black Brett Cameron will make a rare start for the Crusaders, as international first-five Richie Mo'unga takes a mandated rest against the Waratahs on Saturday.

Mo'unga has started all four of the defending champions' games this season in the 10 jersey and was named there for last week's cancelled fixture against the Highlanders.

Under All Blacks welfare protocols, players can't play - or prepare for - six consecutive games, hence Mo'unga's absence.

Cameron debuted for the Crusaders last season and came off the bench in their 57-28 romp over the Chiefs earlier this month. After a stellar Mitre 10 Cup season for Canterbury, he made his international debut for New Zealand against Japan last November.

Crusaders captain Sam Whitelock makes a belated comeback to Super Rugby, after he was named to return last week in Dunedin, while prop Owen Franks will chalk up his 150th Super Rugby game.

Whitelock replaces Scott Barrett, who will join Mo'unga on the sidelines for his first break this season.
