The Crusaders will welcome back Sam Whitelock for their clash with the Stormers on Sunday morning (NZ time).

The 108-test lock has been absent on All Blacks rest over the past fortnight, which has doubled as paternity leave, after he and wife Hannah welcomed a baby daughter at the start of the month.

Whitelock will link up with the squad in Cape Town and reclaim captaincy duties, as the defending champions aim for two straight wins in South Africa, after last week's 45-13 thumping of the Bulls in Pretoria.

In other changes, Ethan Blackadder will take starting duties at blindside flanker, shifting Jordan Taufua to the bench, while Mitchell Dunshea drops out of the game-day squad.

The backline remains unchanged.

The Stormers currently sit at the bottom of the closely contested South African Conference, but are coming in fresh off a bye week.
