Trent Boult has taken a superb catch on the boundary to stop a six and deny the West Indies a nail-biting victory in Manchester in their Cricket World Cup match.
The Blackcaps wer far from their best, but the side's senior players produced performances which helped see their side over the line.
Needing just six runs from seven balls to win, batting at the crease just after raising the bat for his first ever international hundred, Carlos Brathwaite swatted a short ball from James Neesham towards the crowd.
It looked to have sealed the game for the Caribbean nation, but Boult took a stunning catch and managed to keep his feet inside the ropes to seal a five-run victory for New Zealand.
Earlier, the Blackcaps lost the toss and were sent in to bat, a decision which saw Martin Guptill removed off the first ball of the match, Sheldon Cottrell claiming him LBW.
It got worse for the Kiwi side four balls later when Colin Munro was sent back to the sheds, his off stump rattled by Cottrell for a golden duck.
Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor got the Blackcaps back into the game with a 160-run partnership for the third wicket.
Taylor fell for 69 - but Williamson carried on, scoring his highest ODI total of 148.
James Neesham (28) and Colin de Grandhomme (16) chipped in at the end of the innings to take the total to 291/8 off their 50 overs.
Boult made two early breakthroughs, removing Shai Hope (1) and Nicholas Pooran (1) before Chris Gayle (87) and Shimron Hetmyer (54) put on 120 runs for their wicket.
At the start of the 22nd over - the West Indies were flying and were easily the favourites to win when a mixture of good bowling and poor batting swung the game.
The West Indies totally collapsed - losing 5/24 in just over four overs to shift the momentum in the Blackcaps' favour.
Carlos Brathwaite played the innings every other player in his side wished he did, scoring his maiden international century.
He kept the West Indies alive and when he smashed Matt Henry for 25 off the 48th over he had every fan watching around the world on the edge of their seat.
Neesham had the ball for the 49th over - and he stepped up, going for two runs off his first five deliveries he stood at the end of his run up needing a wicket to win the game.
A wicket is what he got, a slower ball to Brathwaite flew towards the crowd and found a leaping Boult who plucked it out of the air to seal the win an keep the Blackcaps unbeaten after six matches and sitting at the top of the table.
The Blackcaps will travel to Edgbaston where they take on Pakistan on Wednesday night NZT.
