More good news for New Zealand combat sports fans with confirmation another local talent is set for UFC 243 in Melbourne.
Brad Riddell will become the sixth homegrown Kiwi fighter in the UFC when he debuts inside the Octagon at Marvel Stadium in October.
"Quake" will join his City Kickboxing teammates Israel Adesanya and Dan Hooker on the card - he also trains with recent UFC winner Kai Kara-France and Shane Young who he has made two UFC appearances.
Riddell, 27, was a keen rugby player in his youth but suffered a horrific broken leg at age 14, which was the catalyst for his switch to mixed martial arts.
The Christchurch-born, Auckland based fighter holds a 6-1 MMA record, winning his last three in a row as a welterweight. His opponent is yet to be named.
Hamilton's Luke Jumeau, who also spends time at City Kickboxing, is also scheduled for UFC 243.
