Kiwi golfer Danny Lee has slid down the ladder at the Mayakoba Golf Classic in Mexico, shooting a second-round one-under-par 70 to sit in a tie for fourth at 10-under.
Lee looked on pace to card another low number after making a birdie and an eagle in his opening four holes to be three-under after four.
But the 29-year-old could only manage two bogeys and a birdie in his final 14 holes to card a second-round 70 in the PGA Tour's penultimate event of the year.
He will start the third round three shots behind the leader, America's Harris English who is sitting on 13 under.
American golfer Russell Henley has incurred a bizarre eight-stroke penalty in the second round after realising that one of the balls he had played was different from the rest.
The three-time winner on the PGA Tour was signing balls for fans when he noticed the discrepancy and received a two-stroke penalty for each of the holes he played the different ball.
"(Henley) suffered a 2-stroke penalty on holes 9-12, 8 strokes in total, for breach of Rule 20-3," the PGA Tour announced in a tweet.
"As Henley signed balls for fans he noticed one ball had a slight difference from the ball he uses. He didn't know how it got in his bag."
