Outsider Cruz Bromac has bolted to a shock win at the New Zealand Cup at Christchurch's Addington Raceway on Tuesday.
The Blair Orange-driven horse was paying $14 to win the feature race, but defied the odds to outlast favourites Spankem and The Fixer down the home straight.
The win was Orange's first New Zealand Trotting Cup triumph. He's previously placed twice with Highview Tommy.
"We had a plan," owner Danny Zavitsanos told Newshub. "We sent him over here to the All Stars. The horse was going really fantastic back home... now here we are. We got it."
Spankem, driven by Natalie Rasmussen, finished second, while Classie Brigade claimed third via photo finish.
Cruz Bromac was one of four horses from the champion Mark Purdon-Natalie Rasmussen stable and their fifth win in six years.
