Matt Cross is set to make history when he becomes the youngest commentator ever to call the New Zealand Cup at Addington on Tuesday.
It's a moment the 26-year-old has been dreaming of from a very young age.
Calling races several times a week has Cross "matchfit" ahead of the New Zealand Cup, but he knows tomorrow will be different.
"It's my home cup," Cross told Newshub. "It's what I grew up with as a kid, it's what I aspired to call.
Having called all the major lead-up races - including the Ashburton Flying Stakes - he agrees the strong Mark Purdon - Natalie Rasmussen stable will take a power of beating.
Cross knows it's the biggest day in his race-calling career, and he says the key is to embrace the occasion rather than being daunted by it.
