The NZ Breakers will receive a welcome boost for their clash with the Brisbane Bullets on Monday night, with the timely return of star American import Scotty Hopson.
Hopson hasn't played since he split a ligament in his knee in the win over the Cairns Taipans on October 31. The 30-year-old had been one of the team's best before he went down that night, posting per-game averages of 16 points and seven rebounds.
News of Hopson's comeback seems a fortuitous coincidence for the club. On Monday, his replacement - Glen Rice Jnr - breached bail on his pending assault charge and subsequently had his contract torn up.
Backcourt partner Corey Webster is also in line to return to the court against the Bullets. He's been listed as a gametime decision, with medical staff set to make a call closer to tip-off.
With centre Rob Loe recovered from his fractured skull, director of basketball Dan Shamir may soon have the rare luxury of a fully healthy roster.
The eighth-placed Breakers tip off at Auckland's Spark Arena against the seventh-placed Bullets at 7:30pm.
