Still reeling from their first-test hiding, the Blackcaps can count on plenty of support from travelling Kiwis for next week's Boxing Day fixture at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Australia will host New Zealand in their marquee test of the summer for the first time since 1987, the second in a three-match series that the hosts lead 1-0.
Kiwis will flood into Melbourne for the occasion, with Cricket Australia revealing 16,000 tickets have been sold across the Tasman for the test-match tradition.
The opening day of the Boxing Day fixture is almost sold out, with only nose-bleed tickets available in the 100,000-capacity stadium.
New Zealand have only ever won three tests in Australia - Brisbane and Perth in 1985, and Hobart in 2011.
But they have never lost on Boxing Day, drawing both previous outings and finishing just one wicket short of victory in their last appearance.
