New Zealand Cricket and Cricket Australia are currently in talks on how best to mark the White Island volcanic disaster.
Both teams have united in grief ahead of the first test in Perth on Thursday, with Australia coach Justin Langer saying the tragic events are sure to have an effect on all the players.
Perth is more than five thousand kilometres away, but the White Island eruption is being keenly felt by both teams.
"It puts the test match into perspective," said Australia coach Justin Langer. "Lives are being torn apart and our hearts go out to them.
"It sounds like some Australians have been involved and our thoughts go out to everyone who's been directly affected," added NZ's Gary Stead.
