Blackcaps v Australia: Kane Williamson, Henry Nicholls miss second straight training session with illness

New Zealand's third test preparation is in disarray with confirmation skipper Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls have missed training for a second successive day.

The batting pair sat out Wednesday's session with 'flu-like-symptoms and haven't recovered in time for the final training before Friday's test at Sydney's SCG.

But Blackcaps management is still confident both Williamson and Nicholls will suit up for the dead-rubber at 12.30-pm tomorrow.

Seven News is reporting that several other players are also feeling under the weather, but well enough to train with their teammates.

Tom Latham will front the traditional pre-match captain's press conference later on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Australian captain, Tim Paine has suggested Australia will take an unchanged lineup into the final test.

Leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson has been added to the squad, leading to speculation he would replace middle-order batsman Matthew Wade.

But Paine told reporters on Thursday that his preference is to field the same XI that won the Boxing Day test so convincingly.

"We'll have a look again in the morning," Paine said.

"It'd be likely we'll go unchanged but it's still a possibility when we see that wicket tomorrow morning that we'd go for another spinner."
