Aspiring Olympic triathlete Hayden Wilde has shown the track athletes how it's done with a win in the 5000 metres at the national track and field championships in Christchurch.
He joined many of the usual suspects at the top of the podium, like Dame Valerie Adams, Tom Walsh plus sprinters Eddie Osei Nketia and Zoe Hobbs.
Wilde should have been racing a triathlon in Abu Dhabi only for it to be cancelled because of the coronavirus crisis.
"It's very unfortunate but at the end it's cool that the ITU have put athletes first with health but it's also given me the opportunity to race the 5000 metre nationals." Wilde said.
