As the muddy water clears around a resumption of the A-League, Wellington Phoenix General Manager David Dome is eyeing a significant push towards a first title for the New Zealand club.
Under manager Ufuk Talay, the Phoenix have made a laughing stock of the pundits' predictions of a season destined to end in a wooden spoon.
Following a sketchy start to the campaign, the Nix have produced a quality on-field product, winning 11 of their 20 games so far in the campaign.
That's good enough for third place on the ladder, some nine points clear of the final playoff spot.
While a minor premiership is probably out of the question with Sydney FC 12-points clear at the top, a Grand Final tilt certainly isn't with seven games to go.
The COVID-19 pandemic put a halt on what has arguably been the best season in club history, frustrating fans, players and club staff.
But with the A-League seemingly set for a mid-July relaunch, those title aspirations have been reignited.
Speaking to Newshub, an excited Dome says it's great for the entire club, that a season that showed so much promise, can have a resolution.
"As a club, we can't wait to get back to work," Dome says.
"We are the form team of the A-League and going great guns.
"We have games in hand over the team around us and we want to have a real crack at making an impact in the finals.
"This is a very special group of players and they have a really good support staff around them in Ufuk [Talay] and his coaching staff.
"We are excited about what the resumption of the season will look like and what we can do in the park."
Dome revealed there are still some hurdles to cross around the broadcast deal and what health and safety protocols must be adhered to, to enable clubs to get back on the park.
But he admits he felt a huge sense of relief when the news broke on Friday, that the A-League's return was finally on the table.
"We've been working on this for quite some time.
"It's positive in that everyone here in both Australia and New Zealand wants to see the A-League resume again.
"Our players are chomping at the bit to start training again and get back out on the park and finish off the season.
"We were doing so well and there was such a positive atmosphere around the team in terms of what we thought we could achieve this year.
"To finally get some kind of a resolution is really positive but we still have a little bit of work to do."
That work includes discussions with Australian border security to ensure the club can enter the country, while Dome also confirmed they are already creating a shortlist of locations in New South Wales where they can house the players and staff.
