Formula One young gun Lando Norris is the latest global motorsport star to join Supercars' Eseries.

The Brit will line up in the fifth round of the 10-week virtual racing championship, staged at Belgium's iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

Norris adds to the impressive list of foreign imports that have taken up wildcards during the series, including IndyCar ace Will Power, Nascar speedster Joey Lagano, former Indy 500 winner Alex Rossi and Red Bull superstar Max Verstappen.

The Dutchman was highly impressive three weeks ago, scoring three podium finishes in four races.

Norris, who competed against Kiwi Scott McLaughlin on Sunday in the IndyCar virtual series, will drive for Holden Supercars outfit Walkinshaw Andretti United, which has a link to the 20-year-old's McLaren F1 team.

"I'm super excited to announce I'll be joining the Supercars grid in Spa this week," said Norris, who finished 11th in his debut F1 season last year.

"There's a lot of fast drivers in it, it's going to be very tough, very competitive, but I've watched pretty much all of the races so far in the championship and it looks a lot of fun."

Norris has a hard act to follow - Verstappen turned heads, when he grabbed three runner-up placings in round two's four races.

Two-time defending Supercars champion McLaughlin leads the series by 80 points from Australian Cameron Waters.

Fellow Kiwi Shane Van Gisbergen is third, with another, Andre Heimgartner, fourth.
