The NZ Warriors are handed a brutal reality check, losing 54-0 to St George Illawarra at WIN Stadium.

Winger Amos Roberts scored 22 points for the Dragons on his first-grade debut. John Simon captained the Warriors that day, while the likes of Stacey Jones and Jason Death also played.

The win marked a huge turnaround for the Dragons, who had conceded 50 points against North Queensland Cowboys the previous week.

The result summed up a poor season for the Warriors, when they finished 13th out of 14 teams, scoring the least amount of points (426) and conceding the most (662).

2016

The Kiwis are held scoreless in their Anzac Test against Australia, losing 16-0 at Newcastle. The Kangaroos scored three tries in the rout, with Greg Inglis, Blake Ferguson and Darius Boyd crossing the line.

The match was Parramatta Eels star Semi Radradra's only test appearance for the green-and-golds and was the last for Stephen Kearney as Kiwis coach, before stepping down to take the Warriors' reins.

2017

Joseph Parker defeats Răzvan Cojanu by unanimous decision in his first WBO heavyweight title defence.

Cojanu was a late replacement for Brit Hughie Fury, who withdrew at the 11th hour with a shoulder injury. Parker dominated the dour 12-round fight against the towering, but overmatched Romanian.

Parker would beat Fury a few months later, before dropping his WBO belt in a unification fight against Anthony Joshua.

'Kids are killing themselves': NRL's first openly gay player Ian Roberts blasts Israel Folau

Rugby league's first openly gay male has stressed there must be consequences for Israel Folau's homophobic outbursts.

Former NRL great Ian Roberts sympathises with the Wallabies star's plight, but believes his public stance against homosexuality has been extremely harmful.

Speaking to Australia's Channel Nine, Roberts expressed his concern over the toll Folau's social media posts would have on young gay women and men in particular.

"I don't say this lightly, what I'm about to say," Roberts said. "The language I use is hard and it's for a point - it's to get that message across.

"There are literally [gay] kids in the suburbs killing themselves."
