The Northern Mystics have continued their undefeated streak in the ANZ Premiership with a 46-42 win over the Southern Steel on Saturday.
Centre Tyla Earle was a stand-out for the Mystics, combining deftly with teenage star shooter Grace Nweke, who stroked them from all sectors of the circle.
The victory takes their unbeaten run to three, while at the other end of the spectrum, the Steel remain winless for the season.
After a tightly contested opening quarter, the Mystics edged ahead courtesy of some strong play through the middle, heading into the halftime interval with a 24-20 advantage.
In the third quarter, the Aucklanders picked up where they left off. Shooter Grace Nweke's hot hand ensured the goals kept on flowing, helping her side extended their lead to 37-29 heading into the final stanza.
The Steel managed to pull closer in the fourth quarter but not close enough to claim a much-needed win.
