The Blues are holding a press conference at their training base in Auckland to unveil the signing of former All Blacks first-five Dan Carter for the upcoming Super Rugby Aotearoa season.
The 38-year-old last played Super Rugby in 2015 and has signed as cover for Stephen Perofeta, who is out indefinitely with a foot injury.
Carter will bring much-needed experience to the Blues having spent 12 years with the Crusaders where he won three Super Rugby titles in 2005, 06, and 08.
The Blues had been in talks with Carter for some time, after the Japan Top 14 season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. He has since returned to Auckland with his family.
The Blues face the Hurricanes in their opening match of Super Rugby Aotearoa on June 14 at Eden Park.
