The New Zealand round of the revamped Supercars calendar has been scrapped to complete the season in 2020.
Last month, Supercars announced plans to finish the current season in February 2021, with Auckland due to host a round of racing on January 9-10.
But after discussions with broadcasters and team owners, the season finale has been brought forward to December 2020, with the New Zealand leg and the second Bathurst sprint event cut from the calendar.
On top of that, the round at Sandown, Victoria, has been moved from December to September, returning to its traditional pre-Bathurst calendar position.
Supercars chief executive Sean Seamer says the decisions come as a consequence of the COVID-19 crisis and are "beyond the reasonable control" of the organisation.
"Following discussions over recent weeks, it has become clear to all parties that an event in January could not go ahead, due to the effects of COVID-19," says Seamer.
"While there are many details to be worked through, Supercars is actively engaged in discussions with Auckland Tourism, Events & Economic Development around the return to New Zealand in 2021.
"We are committed to include the Auckland round in the 2021 calendar, which is due to be released in October."
The 2020 Supercars championship is scheduled to resume at Sydney Motorsport Park on June 27.
Two-time defending champion Scott McLaughlin will return to racing with a 27-point championship lead over Jamie Whincup.
