Sunday's NRL clash between the Canterbury Bulldogs and Sydney Roosters has been postponed due to a coronavirus scare.

The match has been rescheuled for Monday night after the child of Bulldogs prop Aiden Tolmanhad a COVID-19 incident at their school.

Tolman's children attend the Laguna Street primary school where a teacher has tested positive to coronavirus.

The 31-year-old is required to get tested in line with biosecurity protocols, along with all Bulldogs players and staff.

Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V'landys said players' safety was the league's top priority.

"There's a very remote risk of infection within the Bulldogs squad,'' he said.

"To ensure there is no risk at all, the player will be tested today and the game delayed until tomorrow to ensure the test results have returned. I want to congratulate the Bulldogs for swiftly informing the NRL.

"I want to thank our broadcast partners for their assistance, at very short notice, in changing the schedule."

If Tolman is cleared of coronavirus, the match will go ahead as planned on Monday, with a 9pm (NZ time) kick-off.

Sunday's later game between St George Illawarra Dragons and Cronulla Sharks at Campbelltown Stadium - originally scheduled for 8:30pm - has been brought forward to the 6:05pm timeslot.

"Once we found out about Aiden's situation we immediately informed the NRL and have been working with them overnight which ultimately led to the decision to postpone the game until tomorrow," said Bulldogs chief executive Andrew Hill.

"This Is an unprecedented situation, but we will make sure that we take all the necessary precautions required and get everyone within our bubble tested and cleared over the next 24 hours."
