Prop Poasa Faamausili will remain with the NZ Warriors for the foreseeable future, after agreeing to a loan extension with the club.
Friday's match against the Melbourne Storm was set to be the last in a four-match loan for Faamausili, but his parent club - Sydney Roosters - have agreed to let him stay at the Warriors.
Faamausili joined the club after the NRL gave the Warriors permission to loan players while they were based in Australia. He has gone on to play three games, all off the bench.
The news is encouraging for interim Warriors coach Todd Payten, with 10 players sidelined by injury, including key forwards Jazz Tevaga, Eliesa Katoa and Leeson Ah Mau.
Payten says the 24-year-old will remain with the squad until "the Roosters need him back" this season.
"Trent [Robinson] and the Roosters have been fantastic with their attitude towards us," Payten says.
"They've agreed to keep Po in our system until they need him back, so he'll be here as long as they are injury-free.
"Po's been really good. He's fitted in really well and he's pretty vocal around the group, which has been great."
