Wests Tigers playmaker Josh Reynolds has been released without charge after an early morning driving violation.
The former New South Wales State of Origin representative was issued with an infringement notice over an expired drivers licence, but he escaped further punishment, despite failing a roadside drugs test.
A second test, conducted at the Sutherland Police station, came back negative and Reynolds was allowed to return home.
The 31-year-old then took to Twitter to dispute initial reports from Daily Telegraph rugby league editor Buzz Rothfield for failing to check facts.
Rothfield's report suggests Reynolds isn't in the clear and is awaiting the results of the second oral swab.
"The roadside drug test was a false positive," Reynolds tweets. "I went to the police station and undertook the further sample for the higher-level testing, which proved negative.
"I am told false positives on roadside tests are not uncommon. I was then released without charge."
In a statement, Wests Tigers have confirmed they have notified the NRL Integrity Unit.
"The Wests Tigers advised the NRL Integrity Unit of the matter. The Integrity Unit are working with the club and NSW Police to determine the full details."
Reynolds has battled his fair share of off-field drama recently after a messy break-up with former girlfriend Arabella Del Brusso.
