NZ Warriors have been confirmed for an NRL Women's competition return in September.

ARL Commission boss Peter V'Landys announced the return of the NRLW on Tuesday, revealing the Grand Final would be played on the same day as the NRL equivalent.

All four teams that played in 2019, including the Warriors, will be back this year, while V'Landys also confirmed a stand-alone women's State of Origin match in November.

"The women’s game is a very important element of rugby league," V'Landys says.

"We are very proud of our achievements in the women’s game and we should be providing it the significance it deserves.

"I want to thank the clubs for their commitment to women’s sport and the players themselves for their understanding, as we worked through this process."

Last month, Warriors chief executive Cameron George warned an Epidemic Response Committee hearing that the women's side would be disbanded without government funding.

The club received $200,000 from the first wave of Sport Recovery Package payouts last week.
