Assistant coach Carlos Spencer's time with the Hurricanes has come to a sudden end.
Effective immediately, Spencer and the Wellington-based Super Rugby franchise have mutually agreed to part ways, with the club citing the financial pressures caused by the coronavirus pandemic as the reason for his departure.
"Due to the financial uncertainty created by COVID-19, we have agreed he will finish his contract early," says chief executive Avan Lee.
The former Blues and All Blacks first-five was recruited by then head coach John Plumtree to join the coaching ranks last year.
The Hurricanes stress that the decision wasn't performance-based, nor was it a reflection of any disagreements with players or staff.
"We would like to thank Carlos for his significant contribution to the Hurricanes and wish him all the best for the future."
