Utility back Jordie Barrett is in doubt for the Hurricanes' opening game of Super Rugby Aotearoa this weekend.
The Hurricanes have confirmed that Barrett had sustained a knock to his shoulder, would play no part at training, and would be monitored thoughout the rest of the week, before the team to play the Blues in Auckland on Sunday is officially named on Friday.
But soon after that announcement, the 23-year-old was then pictured with his teammates taking full part at Tuesday's practice at Rugby League Park, adding more uncertainty to the situation.
The injury means the anticipated grudge match with brother Beauden Barrett, who will play his first game for the Blues since leaving the Hurricanes in the off-season, may not eventuate.
On Tuesday, Barrett suggested his brother won't play any part at Eden Park this weekend.
"Jordie probably won't be playing," Barrett said when asked about the inevitable onfield war of words with his former teammates.
Barrett is the second high-profile All Black to be scratched from contention this weekend, after Sam Cane was ruled out of the Chiefs match against the Highlanders with a back complaint.
