The Project: Warriors fans pledge support for homeless heroes through haka

It's been a tough week for the NZ Warriors, after a big loss to South Sydney and the axing of coach Stephen Kearney.

With the NRL team living in Australia due to COVID-19, they don't get to hear the cheering and love from their Kiwi fans, just when they need it most.

Some fans have fixed that in a really powerful way, with a mass haka at their Mt Smart Stadium home.

"The haka is all about sharing a message and telling stories," Tapeta Wehi tells The Project.

"If ever there was a time for us, as a country, to come together, it's right now.

"The Warriors have been sent over to Australia, sacrificing their families and loved ones, left them all home and gone over there to represent us.

"We're spending them a message of strength, aroha and resilience as a people."

Says Warriors commercial manager Glen Critchley: "This will be huge. The guys gave up a lot to do what they've done and spent the last eight weeks over in Australia - it hasn't been easy."
