Netball New Zealand's defending its decision to stick with the ANZ Premiership final in Invercargill, regardless of the teams involved.
The Southern Steel are unlikely to qualify with the Central Pulse, with either the Mystics or Tactix favoured to contest next month's decider.
Players have told Newshub they're not happy, but their complaints are falling on deaf ears.
"It's a bit rough if I'm to be honest," says Pulse captain Katrina Rore.
Regardless of the Pulse's unbeaten 2020 campaign, Invercargill will host the final.
"Invercargill is somewhere they can secure accomodation." says Netball NZ chief executive Jennie Wyllie. "And to come in and really enjoy that festival of netball."
But that doesn't make Rore feel any better.
"Home crowd is massive, a huge advantage," Rore adds. "And I feel like maybe in Invercargill no one will be going for us anyway."
While the Pulse have more reason than most to be frustrated, even one of their potential opponents in the final is perplexed over the inflexibility of the schedule.
"It's interesting," says Tactix coach Marrianne Delayney-Hoshek. "I don't know whether they could have just pencilled something in.
But Netball NZ says it's not that simple and they're committed to all six teams playing off for fifth, third and the title in one venue.
"It's about how they play," says Wyllie. "Not where they play."
