The Tactix were once the perennial underachievers of provincial netball, hitting a new low when the franchise went into voluntary liquidation in April.
But after two impressive wins in a week, the team now have their eyes on the ANZ Premiership title.
With just one playoff appearance in 12 years and six wooden spoons, few would've expected to hear this at the start of the season.
"I think we can win it," says star Te Paea Selby-Rickit.
After a dominant win over the Magic, there's light at the end of the tunnel for the Christchurch-based side.
The Tactix have recruited well, particularly with Te Paea Selby-Rickit. The former Steel shooter knows a thing or two about being a champion, having won two titles with the southerners.
"When we're good we're really good. It's just about finding consistency we've got some great players in our team.
"Once we click, I think we're going to be pretty lethal."
The side's most recent victory saw them restrict the Magic to just 14 second half points.
Leading the way was Temalisi Fakahokotau. After missing last season with injury, the goalkeep isn't afraid to put her body on the line.
"I don't intend on being on the floor," says Temalisi Fakahokotau. "But if it happens, it happens."
That kind of mindset has helped them rise above what was a low point for the franchise less than three months ago, when the club fell into financial troubles.
"We said our goals wouldn't change," says coach Marianne Delaney-Hoshek. "And no matter what happened to us as a team, it didn't change anything."
