ANZ Premiership: Netball rivalry renewed for Tactix, Mystics

The Canterbury-based Tactix are chasing bragging rights over the Northern Mystics in Sunday's ANZ netball Premiership encounter in Auckland.

Last weekend, the Mystics got one up on the red and blacks, and the Tactix are desperate to come out on the right side of the score this time around.

"There's definitely a rivalry between us," says Tactix star Temalisi Fakahokoutau.

"It's the team I left to come down here so it's definitely going to be a big game."

The Tactix are hungrier than ever to stamp their mark after last week's narrow loss.

And the stakes are high. The Southerners also play on Monday, so could move ahead of the Mystics on the Premiership ladder if they win both games.

"It's a game we're targeting because we don't want them getting any further ahead," says Tactix coach Marianne Delaney-Hoshek.

But standing in their way is Mystics captain Phoenix Karaka, who's backing her side to make it two wins from two.

"I think we've got the confidence and the game plan to bring it to them this weekend," says Karaka.

And with both teams vying for their first Premiership title, Sunday's match could just be a taster of what's to come.
