Mainland Tactix have claimed a tight 41-40 win over their rival Northern Mystics in their ANZ Premiership clash at the Auckland Netball Centre on Sunday.
After the teams were even heading into the halftime break, the Canterbury-based side were able to keep their noses ahead down the stretch to avenge their round-four defeat to the Aucklanders.
Earlier on Sunday, Northern Stars edged Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic 45-43 to claim back-to-back wins in consecutive days.
Fresh off their comfortable win over the Southern Steel on Saturday, the Aucklanders backed up with a gutsy victory to stay in the hunt for a finals spot.
Trailing at halftime, the Magic surged back into the contest with a dominant third quarter, but were held off down the stretch by the Stars, who did just enough to clinch victory.
The Stars will look to make it three-straight, when they take on the Mystics on Friday, while the Magic are immediately back into action against the Tactix on Monday.
