Netball: Dame Noeline Taurua officially receives Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit honour

New Zealand can officially say arise "Dame Noels"

The current Silver Ferns coach - Noeline Taurua - was officially made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit on Monday.

The new Dame was recognised for her services to netball earlier this year, after guiding the Ferns to their first World Cup triumph in sixteen years,

Taurua, who Newshub revealed last week will be in charge through the next World Cup, is a reluctant, but humble Dame.

"This is probably a bit of a kick-start for me to get things moving and back up what I have received today," Taurua told Newshub.

"I'm quite emotional about all of this and I never thought I would be."

The 52-year-old joins former national coach Lois Muir in  receiving the honour.
