Dame Noeline Taurua was the mastermind behind the Silver Ferns' stunning World Cup triumph 12 months ago, and she's now declared she wants to help them defend that title.
Taurua's has revealed to Newshub that she fully intends to be the Ferns coach, when they chase a second straight crown in South Africa in 2023, which is news that's been welcomed by players and officials alike.
It's almost precisely a year since Taurua led the Silver Ferns to that famous win in Liverpool, and now for the first time, she's declared she wants to do it all over again.
"My intent is to be there for the next [world championships] in 2023," Taurua tells Newshub.
"So I've just got to produce the results."
One thing she's already got is the backing of Netball New Zealand.
"Noeline is hungry for it," says chief executive Jennie Wyllie. "I think she's also really mindful that we need to build, we will need to adapt, and all of the pressure is now on us."
Taurua is well aware what will be required and is itching to confront the challenge head-on.
"Yes, I'm going for it," Taurua adds. "I love the pressure and that's what it's all about."
And the team love having her in charge. Although captain Katrina Rore was caught off guard when she was told Taurua had her eye on 2023.
"Oh does she? That's good," Rore tells Newshub. "That's great."
Rore played a big part in last year's World Cup win and credits Taurua with helping her rediscover her love of the game.
"A lot of us (netballers) have no idea what [Taurua] has been thinking or wanted to do… so that can only be good news for netball in New Zealand."
And Rore's not ruling out competing at another World Cup herself, though she'd be wise not to use the words 'defending the title' with the coach.
"I feel it's not about defending at all," says Taurua."It's about us going out and winning it again."
Given Taurua's track record, you wouldn't bet against it.
