The Wellington Phoenix will face the Perth Glory at Bankwest Stadium on Saturday in the A-League playoffs after securing third place in the standings.
The Phoenix secured their highest-ever finish at the end of the regular season after Western United lost 3-1 to Melbourne City on Wednesday night.
If United had won, they would have leapfrogged the Phoenix in the standings, but the loss means they face a do-or-die clash against the Brisbane Roar on Sunday.
Since the A-League resumed in mid-July after a coronavirus-enforced break, the Phoenix have only won once in six games, but that win came against Perth.
The Glory, who lost in last year's grand final to Sydney FC, beat the Phoenix twice earlier in the season.
If the Phoenix beat Perth, they will face Melbourne City for a spot in the A-League Grand Final.
The Phoenix are also chasing their first playoffs win since 2012, having been eliminated in the first round in their last two trips to the finals in 2015 and '19.
