The Tactix have received a double boost as they prepare for their maiden appearance in the ANZ Premiership final this weekend.
Coach Marianne Delaney-Hoshek has signed a new three-year deal, while Netball NZ has pledged their financial support to at least the end of next season.
'Stronger Together' has been saying that the Tactix have lived by this season, and there's now growing optimism for the future.
"It just goes to show when your backs are against the wall, cool things can happen,"
The team have defied the odds to give themself the chance to be crowned champions against the Central Pulse.
In April, Mainland Netball went into voluntary liquidation in April, leaving the players to step up both on and off the court.
"There's people doing admin, updating the calendar, organising promo hours and that kind of thing," says midcourter Kimiora Poi.
"A bit more washing bibs, but we're up for it! Take a bit of pressure off our manager."
Netball NZ's commitment to financially supporting the Tactix until the end of the 2021 season combined has given newly extended coach Delaney-Hoshek renewed vigour.
"I want to set up a legacy so that when I finish… the system here is working well and we're creating Silver Ferns down here," Delaney-Hoshek says.
That legacy could start Sunday if they can upset the Pulse, who are hunting back-to-back to championships.
More to come
