Just over a year ao, the Silver Ferns stunned the netball world in Liverpool and while some big names have retired since, the latest 16-strong squad still features the core from that golden day.
One glaring omission is former skipper Laura Langman, who called time on her 15-year international career on Monday.
Langman joins fellow 'fossils' Casey Kopua and Maria Folau in retirement, and with almost 450 caps among them, coach Dame Noeline Taurua admits they're big shoes to fill.
"I don't think we can ever replace those legends or our fossils," says Taurua. "But we're going to give it a good crack."
One player stepping up is sole debutant and ANZ Premiership final MVP Maddy Gordon.
"I've wanted to be a Fern since I was young," says Gordon. "So it's definitely a pinch-myself moment."
Taurua has high praise for the 20-year-old Central Pulse midcourter.
"Maddy will form her own style and if she's what we think she is then, she could be around the same years as Laura Langman was."
And she's surrounded by an exciting mix of youth and experience.
Ameliaranne Ekenasio will continue as captain, with support from vice captains Gina Crampton and Jane Watson. Claire Kersten earns a recall, while defenders Kelly Jury and Sulu Fitzpatrick also return to the international scene.
"It's always a privilege to play for the Ferns, so we're pretty keen to get back into it," " says Ekenasio.
But their exposure to international netball could be limited, with uncertainty over the chances of any fixtures in 2020.
"It's still on the table," Taurus insists. "We're still working toward the Constellation Cup in November, so fingers crossed, that's our intention."
