Brisbane Broncos star Tevita Pangai Jnr seems set to have his contract torn up, after breaking the NRL's strict biosecurity protocols.
The 24-year-old forward earns a hefty AU$650,000 per season, but seems likely to pay the price for a troubled disciplinary history.
Pangai has been suspended 12 weeks during the past 12 months and only recently returned to the struggling Broncos line-up, after his latest indiscretion cost him four weeks.
NRL.com reports the Tongan international also tried to shop himself to Sydney Roosters, a move that angered the Broncos board, and his COVID-19 breach could be the final straw.
The Broncos have won just three games this season, coach Anthony Seibold is currently on personal leave and next season they will lose star forward David Fiifita, who signed with Gold Coast Titans last week.
But Australian reports suggest the club isn't prepared to lower its standards, despite facing potentially its worst season ever.
Under NRL biosecurity guidelines, Pangai faces an AU$40,000 fine for attending the opening of a Brisbane barbershop, which had ties to the Mongols motorcycle group and was raided by Queensland Police.
Three members of the Broncos coaching staff - including club legend Allan Langer - have already been fined for breaking COVID-19 restrictions, after attending a private function last week.
They were each fined $5000 by the NRL.
