New Sydney Roosters signing Sonny Bill Williams admits he's unsure if he'll even get on the field when he's available for selection.
Williams and his family have been quarantining in a Sydney apartment for seven days, after arriving in Australia from Manchester last Thursday.
The 35-year-old joined the Roosters, on loan from the Toronto Wolfpack, after the Canadian club withdrew from the remainder of the Super League season, due to the "overwhelming financial challenges" posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
After watching the depleted Roosters' 24-16 win over St George Illawarra Dragons, Williams has told Fox Sports' Thursday Night With Matty Johns that he's just there to help them capture a third successive NRL premiership.
"I think tonight just shows the depth the club has and, for me, I'm under no illusions," he says.
"It's not like I'm coming into a side that came 13th the year before - they're coming off two back-to-back wins.
"It's a great club and I'm looking to help out wherever I can. The challenge for me, as a 35-year old that was on holiday, is to try and make the squad, try and make the team.
"That's my main focus."
The Roosters' win over the Dragons was their ninth win of the season.
"Just watching that game, it was a class game," he says.
"The quality of it was unreal and it's advanced in the last five years since I played. That's a challenge itself.
"The body is starting to feel a bit better. I was lucky to have a little gym set up here and I've been training a couple times a day.
"I think, when I get out, I have a couple of weeks' preparation and then I might not even play. I'm coming back to give it the best crack I can."
Williams has also spoken about his future aspirations, revealing he hopes to start a charity.
"When you start coming into the twilight of your career, you start thinking about that sort of stuff," he says.
"I've got four young kids and I love spending time with them, but I think when it's done and dusted...
"I'm still contracted to Toronto next year, but if that falls through and I end up retiring, I'd love to start up my own charity. I'm a big man of faith.
"In the scriptures, it says in giving you receive and that's probably the biggest blessing I've found - that it's true empowerment when you give your time up."
If Williams does take the field, he is expected to be available for the Roosters' final four games of the regular season - beginning with Canberra Raiders on September 5 - before contesting the playoffs.
